This weekend I’ll be heading to the Treasure Island Music Festival for two days of music just outside of San Francisco. The awesome lineup includes MGMT, The Flaming Lips, The Decemberists, and Yo La Tengo just to name a few. I’m also excited to see Thao With the Get Down Stay Down, whose front-runner rocks out on her guitar to catchy, upbeat tunes that always make for a fun live show. In a new video for “When We Swarm,” the band dances happily lakeside with a bunch of friends, making it th

Music Review: Driven Straight To The Dance Floor
After listening to it over and over again for almost three weeks, I finally can write a music album review for “DRIVEN Straight To The Dance Floor” by Arnold G. Arnold Garcia is his real full name, but as an international dance/pop recording artist, songwriter, dancer and performer, he is well known as “ARNOLD G.” DRIVEN Straight To The Dance Floor is Arnold G’s 12 tracks complete album. It was released in 2006 by A&G Records, and manufactured and distributed by IRIS Distribution. DRIV

Landon Pigg hit the big screen as Ellen Page’s droolworthy love interest in Drew Barrymore’s Whip It, but he’s more than just a cute boy. Music review: Murray Perahia makes his Disney Hall recital debut
On my way into the theater Tuesday night for Murray Perahia’s first recital in Walt Disney Concert Hall , I had the compulsion to wash my hands very thoroughly. This had nothing to do with fear of catching the H1N1 virus, but with the fact that Perahia is a pristine pianist like no other. The 6-year-old Disney Steinway was just back from its summer servicing. A rare early October rainstorm, cleansing the hall and streets outside, felt like a good omen. I wonder how many of those who purchas

Music Review: Baroness “Blue Record”
This album picks upon the same styling and themes as their previous Red Album, they are something similar to sister albums. With vocals reminiscent to Isis, very minimal and used more to punctuate the songs musically. The music is very well put together, they are a heavier rock band who hits a groove and works the groove the entire song. They also give a good southern feel to the songs, only adding to the older rock ‘n’ roll sound. I really enjoyed the record the entire way through, the song
