Music Review: The Black Lips’ “200 Million Thousand”
Do you like garage rock? How about post-punk sounds? If so, time to listen to the Black Lips who rank near the top of those genres. The band’s new “200 Million Thousand” (does the title have to do with the economic crisis?) combines plenty of punk and psychedelic influences, ramps up the reverb, and spits out a dark guilty pleasure. You & Me kicks off with “Dónde Está la Playa”. The combination of the bass and the organ is quite good. At first listen, it sounded really weird. But after a few listens, my perception towards the music in the background as Hamilton sings on totally changed.
